Boost the Appearance and Health of Your Teeth with Life-looking Porcelain Crowns

Are you reeling from pain because of a broken tooth? Does your decayed tooth not look the way you’d prefer? We can rebuild teeth compromised by damage or decay. Made of porcelain, dental crowns from Milford Dental and Associates in Highland, Michigan, are functionally and cosmetically the best solutions for restoring damaged or decayed teeth.

Crown-on-tooth procedure: What to expect

Like any dental procedure, getting a crown starts with a dental examination. We use dental X-rays and other diagnostic tools to examine your tooth and determine if it’s restorable with a dental crown. Dental crowns repair teeth when the damage is too extensive for a dental filling. However, a dental crown can only do so much if no healthy structure remains.

If you are eligible for a dental crown, the next step is tooth preparation. Dental X-ray images help us to map out your treatment. Tooth preparation isn’t the same for all patients. Some may need removal of the decayed portion, while others only need enamel reshaping. Either way, all the procedures are carried out after administering local anesthesia to maximize your comfort.

After tooth preparation, we take your oral impressions to create a mold of your dentition. Our master ceramists rely on these molds to create your custom-made crown. Your dental crown takes a few days to manufacture. During your wait, you’ll wear a temporary crown to protect your smile from infection, injury, and sensitivity.

When we receive your crown, you’ll book another appointment for installation. We’ll inspect your crown to ensure it fits comfortably and looks natural. If your restoration ticks all the boxes, we use dental cement to bond your crown to your tooth.
