Experienced General Dentistry for the Entire Family
At Milford Dental Care, it all begins with a healthy smile. We are your partners in maintaining your oral health... and in reclaiming it, if your smile just isn’t what it used to be.
Dr. Jill Seguin, DDS, FAGD provides general dentistry services that will help keep your smile healthy for years to come.
Protecting your smile for life takes regular professional care from a dentist. The number one cause of tooth loss is periodontal disease. About half of American adults have some form of gum disease, which can turn into full blown periodontitis if left unchecked. At Milford Dental Care, we encourage our patients to come in twice a year if they have healthy teeth, and more often if they already have periodontal disease. We want the best for our patients!
Professional Teeth Cleanings (Dental Prophylaxis)
We aim to make your dental cleanings a spa-like experience! Dental prophylaxis is a cleaning procedure that thoroughly cleans the teeth, removing plaque deposits that brushing leaves behind. It is an important preventive measure to help stop the progression of gum disease. We recommend our orally healthy patients come in for cleanings twice a year, and those who have gum problems to come in more often.
Advanced Cavity Detection with CariVu
CariVu detection device uses patented transillumination technology to detect cavities and cracks with very high accuracy. CariVu offers an edge over traditional bite-wing x-rays.
Digital Panoramic X-Rays
Our practice uses advanced digital x-rays to produce enhanced computer images of our patient’s teeth, gums, and other oral structures and conditions. Digital x-rays are key to early detection and effective treatment of dental problems.
Oral Cancer Screening
Tobacco users aren’t the only ones who should be concerned about oral cancer. Oral cancer is on the rise. That’s why at Milford Dental Care, we provide oral cancer screenings as part of your regular-checkups to all of our patients over the age of 18.
Gentle Periodontal Disease Treatment
Dr. Seguin offers gentle gum disease treatment with Perio Protect. In combination with their regular dental cleanings, patients wear the Perio Tray® at home to deliver medicine between visits. Patients only need to wear the tray for a few minutes a day!
Extraction is a last resort, but sometimes it is necessary. Badly infected teeth can jeopardize the health of their neighbors. Fortunately, we can help!
The best time to have wisdom teeth removed is during a patient's late teenage years or early 20s. These immature wisdom teeth are smaller, so surgery is less complicated and potentially less painful. If your wisdom teeth have not started to erupt, we will use x-ray imaging to locate them and determine if it’s time to have them removed.
Seal off deep grooves in the molars that are vulnerable to tooth decay with this inexpensive and effective preventive treatment. Dental sealants guard against cavities by forming a “shield” over the enamel of your teeth, keeping out bacteria and acids. Ask about pediatric dental sealants!
Remineralize weak areas of tooth enamel, keeping them resilient to the acid attacks that cause cavities. Fluoride applications can even reverse early tooth decay.
Athletic Mouth Guards
If you or your child are involved in any type of sports, wearing a custom fitted mouth guard is one of your best pieces of insurance. Not only does it protect teeth, it also reduces the risk of concussion.
Experiencing jaw pain, headaches or facial soreness? Protect your smile against excessive wear caused by jaw clenching and grinding. Dr. Seguin can create a custom orthotic, or even administer BOTOX treatment to stop muscle spasms.
Silver Diamine Fluoride Applications
Silver diamine fluoride is a new FDA-approved antibiotic liquid that can arrest tooth decay and relieve tooth sensitivity. It is non-invasive, painless and may prevent further deterioration, which is especially beneficial if a patient has many cavities that can not all be treated in one visit.
A good night’s sleep is necessary for you to maintain a strong immune system and have the energy to carry out the demands of the day. If you suspect you are suffering from sleep apnea or your spouse complains about your excessive snoring, ask Dr. Seguin about oral devices.
Nervous about your treatment? It is not uncommon! Dr. Seguin encourages our patients to talk about their treatment related concerns and anxieties. If you suffer from dental anxiety, ask about nitrous oxide sedation.
